MISSION STATEMENT
The Journal of Law & Civil Governance at Texas A&M (JLCG) is an independent student publication. JLCG is a forum for the rigorous debate and discussion of leading conservative and libertarian policy issues. Drawing its inspiration from the well-known principle of classical theorist John Locke—“Where the law ends, tyranny begins”—JLCG publishes articles that seek to explore this intersection between the law, government, and the flourishing of civil society.
Accordingly, JLCG publishes conservative and libertarian scholarship on such issues as constitutional interpretation, federalism, civil liberties, criminal justice reform, economics, life, and religious liberty. Through these publications, the Journal seeks to pioneer innovative conservative legal theory and shape the legal discourse for decades to come.
In furtherance of this goal, JLCG also seeks to connect top law students with jurists, scholars, and elected officials across the nation in a common mission to advance the rule of law, advance civil society, and develop our nation’s future leaders.
